Chris Duran is Vice President of Manufacturing for AJW. In this role, he oversees manufacturing operations across AJW's footprint.
During his tenure with AJW, Chris has significantly improved efficiency and safety by implementing 5S lean manufacturing techniques. His strength in recruiting and grooming leaders from the shop floor has helped him build a strong, focused team that is thriving in an environment where there are opportunities to grow.
His passion for manufacturing, metal fabrication and training was born 30 years ago, when he took his first job as a process engineer for a Chicago-area made-to-order contract manufacturer. His passion and expertise were rewarded and he was promoted first to shop supervisor and later to manager. With his successive employers, a diverse group of manufacturers, he steadily rose the ranks to plant manager. He joined the AJW team in 2014.
Chris holds a BS in Manufacturing Engineering from Catholic University of Ecuador. He is a Six Sigma Green Belt, a certification he earned along with Lean Manufacturing, through Villanova University. He's completed additional coursework in operations management and metrics and productivity at JD Edwards and IBM Business School.
He and his wife Laly currently reside in Danbury, CT, an easy commute to AJW's headquarters in New Windsor where Chris is based.
