AJW Architectural Products is currently seeking Assemblers and Machine Operators to join our team in Comfort, TX. The candidates should have at least one year experience in any type of assembly and/or machine operation. We are willing to train in our specific processes and machines.

 

SUMMARY:

  • Assembly of metal lockers and washroom partitions
  • Set up and operate turret punch press and press brakes, which includes:
  • Loading and unloading tools
  • Operating the machine control
  • Maintenance of the machine
  • Running parts per customer drawing
  • Deburring parts while in production
  • Performing secondary operations on punched parts
  • Grinding, buffing and other related functions

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Knowledge of punch & die clearances, material bend allowances, and die radius for proper bending of material is preferred.

Door Machining Supervisor - Comfort, TX

SUMMARY:

This position is primarily responsible for overseeing production activities related to trimming and edge banding, CNC machining, final inspection and palletizing of architectural wood doors.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Operates and programs CNC Machines to do hardware preparation on flush wood doors. These machines will make hinge cut outs, lock function holes and window cut outs.
  • Plans, assigns and executes functions according to production requirements.
  • Maintains the pace in the operation according to the production goals.
  • Makes sure team members follow the schedule and priorities as directed by the manager.
  • Trains others as needed.
  • Find process improvements to achieve and maintain production goal
  • Maintains the production flow
  • Controls quality in the operation.
  • Works with operators and order processing staff to ensure quality and consistency on a sustained basis.
  • Keeps work area clean and organized
  • Alerts Management on any quality or maintenance problem
  • Makes sure plant manager is aware of any problems or obstacles which prevent work from being completed as scheduled and ensures jobs are transferred to next station complete and on time.
  • Assists Plant Manager with raw material inventory in the Door/TC departments, work in process and finished goods, including physical count and audit.
  • Sequences the placement of finished doors for maximum throughput.
  • Addresses complaints in area of operation and resolves problems.
  • Fills in for CNC Machine Operator, trimming and final inspection.
  • Develops and assures the safety and health of the work environment by implementing and maintaining a safety program.
  • Assists Plant Manager in other duties as needed.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Directly supervises 6-8 employees in CNC machining, trimming and final inspection. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED); and three years related experience and or training or equivalent combination of education and experience. Woodworking manufacturing experience is preferred. Previous lead experience in a manufacturing environment is also preferred. Forklift operation experience is required.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Must be bilingual English/Spanish. Ability to read and interpret documents such as machine manuals, job orders, quality control and productivity logs, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, etc. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.

Production Laborers - Doors Division - Comfort, TX

SUMMARY:

The available positions are primarily responsible for production activities related to sanding, trimming and edge banding, CNC machining (Kval Edge and Point to Point), final inspection and palletizing of architectural wood doors.

  • Preferably some knowledge or association with laminate cold pressing operations
  • Ability to read a tape measure and convert from English fractions to decimal equivalents and metric measurements.

EXPERIENCE:

Woodworking manufacturing experience is preferred. Experience with tape measure and reading and understanding blue prints and templates is preferred. Knowledge and experience with basic computer programs is desired. Forklift operation experience is preferred.

Production Manager - Flush Wood Doors and Composite Partitions - Comfort, TX

SUMMARY:

Directs and coordinates activities of the Architectural Flush Wood Door and Composite Partition production department(s) in processing materials or manufactured products in industrial organization by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Decides how best to use Plant worker and equipment to meet production goals and schedules
  • Hire, train and evaluate plant staff and workers
  • Ensures production plan stays on schedule and within budget
  • Prepares operational schedules and coordinates manufacturing activities to ensure production and quality of products meets specifications
  • Reviews production and operating reports and resolves operational, manufacturing and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays
  • Inspects machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization
  • Correct and fix any production problem
  • Develops or revises standard operational and working practices and observes workers to ensure compliance with standards.

SUMMARY

Supervise and coordinate activities related to the safety and production for the Toilet Partition Products by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates.

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED); and three years supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment or equivalent combination of education and experience. Metal Sheet Fabrication experience is preferred. Forklift operation experience is required.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review production orders and establish schedules, priorities and sequences of operations for manufacturing products to ensure optimal utilization of resources.
  • Supervise, create and/or modify best manufacturing practices to ensure production and quality of products meets or exceeds customer expectations and specifications.
  • Assist General Manager in reviewing production and operating reports and resolve operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum downtime, costs and prevent operational delays.
  • Inspect machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization, request upgrades or repairs needed to General Manager.
  • Maintain facilities as needed, keep clean and in order.

Shipping/Receiving Manager - Comfort, TX

SUMMARY:

This position is primarily responsible for the accuracy, detail, coordination and operations involving the shipment of all work orders and the receiving off all raw materials, supplies and services.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Associate’s degree (A.A) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages the shipping and receiving dock and all designate shipping, crating and clerical personnel
  • Creating bills of lading
  • Working from a shipping schedule coordinate the sorting, organization, packing, crating and confirming accuracy of all items involved on any shipment
  • Need to manage the physical receiving, the confirmation of material receipt, the loading and unloading of shipment receipt.
  • Establish and maintain organized physical placement of receipts whereby manufacturing spends little time identifying, pulling, sorting and placement into process
  • Establishes best outbound and inbound shipment structure for reduction of overall shipping cost
  • Negotiate improved shipment and truck routes improving service and reducing cost for our customers
  • Communication with upper and lower management on status of work through production meetings, email and other means
  • Validates every shipment to ensure that precise and accurate information is place on each box, skid and crate
  • Ensures all proper labeling is affixed to each shipment component
  • Updates records to confirm shipment activity – document all shipments with possible photos
  • Handles any package shipments through Fed-Ex or UPS
  • Endeavors to improve packaging methods while reducing costs to minimize any freight damage, loss of freight and improved service
  • File freight claims with carriers
  • Work with Purchasing and Inventory Manager as needed to validate inventory accuracy and levels
  • Serves as back up for “Hardware Manager”

AJW Architectural Products is hiring an experienced Payroll Clerk to make sure that all of our staff receive on-time paychecks and understand their salaries thoroughly. We’ll rely on our payroll clerk to audit and verify all time keeping records of employees’ hours worked as well as any deductions or withholdings required to comply with state and federal law. We also need a professional who is willing to work cross-departmentally with accounting to ensure the entire business runs as smoothly as possible.

  • Verify timekeeping records and consult employees about any discrepancies
  • Record payroll data in our software system and verify all amounts prior to cutting checks
  • Alter employee tax status as needed as well as any information about withholding

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Wood Door Order processing department to include all estimating functions, all customer service functions, all wood door project detailing of work order for submittal to customer for approval and for manufacturing
  • Coordinates the resolution of all customer issues as it relates to estimates, drafting, listing for production, establishment of shipment dates and other related matters
  • Negotiates work for the division
  • Assists customers and clients with questions and concerns
  • Processes any warranty work
  • With the production team – meetings frequently to discuss and establish resolution to conflicts or issues involving production of any and all work orders
  • Grow the Wood Door business through current and existing work or through the establishment and introduction or launch of new products or features

Secondary Responsibilities:

  • Assists with quotation requests to expedite workflow.
  • Enters incoming distributor orders, utilizing internal codes to translate end user product descriptions into a standard format for handling.
  • Communicates with distributors as required to clarify order changes in material, size, color, finish, core type, ship date, ship to address etc.
  • Assists with training of other employees as required.
